Freestanding with … Read more 19th century mahogany carlton house desk circa 1890. Good quality late victorian example of this popular desk design. Freestanding with shaped back, brass gallery to the top, below which are an arrangement of six inlaid drawers with a central lockable storage compartment, flanked either side by further shaped compartments. 2 shaped wells sit either side of the writing surface, with original green leather and gold tooling. Writing surface pulls out for individual positioning. Wide drawer above the knee with a further 2 drawers each side, each decorated with inlay and stringing. Raised on 4 tapering legs with brass caps. Recently restored and re-polished in our workshop. 1 replacement handle to drawer front. 1 old area of restoration to the reverse side. Expected surface marks to original leather. Ready for everyday use. See less
