This 17th century Dutch map depicts the northern province of Artois on the border of Flanders (Belgium). Artois is now a northern area in France.
The cartographer was Joannes Jannffonius, a well-know 17th century Dutch map maker who published several volumes of atlases.
This was created and printed in the golden age of Dutch map making. Beautiful hand coloring and detailed illustrations accompany the map such as the intricate crest in the upper right hand corner and the whale and ship on the left.
Acquired from a European importer and professionally framed in an antique frame with an acid free beveled cotton rag mat.

Altogether though, in good condition for such an old antique. There are some tears at the edges; see photos. The longest one is 1". Several creases (not including the central one that is inherent from being in an atlas.) The frame is in excellent antique condition, very sturdy. It is late 19th - early 20th c. less
