A sensitively painted portrait of the artist's daughter, Nancy, aged two and a half, shown wearing a floral-striped, jade green gingham dress.
Signed lower right, 'Martha Tracy Frey' (American, 1915-2010) and painted 1944; additionally inscribed verso 'Picture of Nancy Jane Frey from life-sized photograph when about 2 1/2. Painted by her mother in 1944.' This Kern County artist, art teacher and author studied at art at UCLA and painted and taught for over sixty years.
