Here we … Read more Part of the fun of finding great furniture treasures is learning more about the history and the manufacturer. Here we have a L. Hitchcock cocktail table in unbelievable condition. In fact it was the condition that made us dig deeper into the companies history to try and find a timeframe of when the table was made. The makers mark L. Hitchcock. Hitchcocks-ville. Conn. Warranted (R) was first used in 1952 when John Tarrant Kenney acquired the official rights to the company. The backwards “N”s in CONN and WARRANTED is a nod back to an 1832 logo where the “N”s were accidentally reversed. From what we can gather this table was manufactured somewhere between 1952 and 1979. Built out of maple and measuring 48” wide by 20” deep and 16” high this cocktail table looks nearly brand new. There are a few smudges and spots on the table top if you catch it in the right light - we tried getting multiple angles in the photographs to depict the marks. There is a tiny ding on the top, and one or two barely noticeable vacuum scuffs on the lower feet. It does not look like the bottom shelf was used at all. This table would be perfect as is or, with minimal elbow grease, refurbished to like new condition. We have tried to represent the wear accurately, but additional photos are available on request.
