Artist Biography:
Jan Wodynski was a Polish artist born in 1903 in Jaslo, Poland. He studied under Wojciech Weiss and Felicjan Kowarski at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and Warsaw. He was a member of the Rytm and Pryzmat groups and exhibited extensively, including two individual exhibitions at IPS in Warsaw. During World War II, he was a prisoner of war in the Soviet Union and later joined the Polish Armed Forces in the West. After the war, he became a professor at the University of Torun and later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He was known for his landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and figural compositions, as well as his work in polychrome, mosaics, and sgraffito. He died in 1988 in Warsaw, Poland. See less
