An antique double inkwell desk set made by and marked for Jennens and Bettridge. The scalloped edge desk set includes two ink wells, two pen sections for pens and a small box in the middle. Delicate raised gilt metal bow details add interest along with small flourishes of abalone shell and gilt pen work.
Early to mid 19th. Century
The firm of Jennens & Bettridge (1815-1864) produced fine quality papier mache items. Originally located in Birmingham they also opened shops in London Paris, and New York
Measurements; 12" long X 9 wide
Condition report, good, some loss of gilt pen work. Normal crazing of the papier mache in accordance with age and use.
