Bertil Vallien, and his late wife Ulrica were integral artist/designers at the heart of the swedish heritage brand Kosta Boda for decades. Bertil is credited with inventing a technique of casting glass in sand molds. His cerebral works incorporate mystical symbols and figures, blended with a swedish naturalism; boats travel through alternate universes, architectural ruins are sunken in glass. Vallien's works are in many museum collections including the MET and the Institute of Chicago.
