This vibrant watercolor shows the Port of Papeete located in Tahiti, French Polynesia.

A painter of harbor scenes, seascapes, and ships, Gainor Jackson was born in 1926 in Devonport, a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand, and spent his early years observing and sketching the maritime traffic in Auckland Harbor. In 1962 he wrote The New Zealand Beach and Boating Book. In in 1969, he coauthored the book Concrete Boatbuilding; Its Techniques and Its Future. In 1975, a book of Jackson's harbor paintings and sketches named Reflection on Auckland Harbor was published. Jackson's works are in private collections worldwide. See less
