Crafted in Italy circa 1840, each mirror stands nearly four feet tall and showcases the fluid curves, intricate foliage, and asymmetrical ornamentation characteristic of the Louis XV style.

Each mirror features an ornate, openwork giltwood frame crowned with a dramatic carved acanthus leaf crest, surrounded by deeply sculpted scrolling foliage, floral buds, and graceful C-scrolls. The beautifully shaped frames curve inward along the sides, creating a distinctive silhouette with intricate carved details throughout. At the bottom, additional scrolling motifs culminate in a large, fan-shaped acanthus leaf, providing a balanced decorative finish.

The original mercury glass plates retain the subtle reflections and aged character associated with 19th-century mirrors. The backs preserve their original wood construction, further reflecting the craftsmanship and authenticity of the period. The carved giltwood frames retain a warm gold leaf patina with slight variations in tone that enhance the depth and definition of the ornamentation.

Ideal for displaying above a pair of consoles in an entryway, flanking a doorway, or adding decorative interest to a living room or primary bathroom, these antique Italian mirrors make a striking architectural statement.

The pair is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, retaining the original mercury glass, wood backing, and rich gilt finish.
