A large and impressive ceramic floor lamp crafted by the Polish-Swedish artist Marian Zawadzki for Tilgmans Keramik in Gothenburg, Sweden. … Read more A large and impressive ceramic floor lamp crafted by the Polish-Swedish artist Marian Zawadzki for Tilgmans Keramik in Gothenburg, Sweden. The ceramic base is decorated with a polychrome scene depicting fishermen with their catch. It is signed and dated 1961 and stamped with the manufacturer’s hallmark underneath. The lamp retains its original cone-shaped shade, covered in beige pleated textile. Total height including shade 100 cm, height foot 50 cm, diameter shade 27 cm. The Swedish ceramics studio Tilgmans was founded in Gothenburg in the late 1940s by Finnish-born ceramicist Paul Harald Tilgmann. After a few years of mainly producing animal figurines, the Polish-born artist Antoni Marian Zawadzki was hired to expand the range of products. Zawadzki soon started producing lamps, vases, and even tabletops, primarily using the sgraffito technique. He stayed with the company until 1970 when he left to start his own studio. Paul Harald Tilgmann died in 1974, and Antoni Marian Zawadzki passed away in 1978 at the age of 66. This piece has an attribution mark,
