Keigetsu Matsubayashi (1876–1963)
Literati painter from Yamaguchi Prefecture. Keigetsu studied under Noguchi Yūkoku. Together with Yamaoka Beika he founded the Japanese Literati Painting Association. He also participated in establishing the Japanese Literati Painting Academy and the Hakuju-kai art association. Together with Komuro Suiun, Keigetsu counts as one of the two pillars of modern Japanese literati painting. Member of the Japan Art Academy. He was appointed as Imperial Household Artist in 1944 and received the Order of Culture in 1958.
