A 19th century Spanish novelist, Alarcón writes a fiction piece.
This novel recounts the convalescence of the monarchist Captain Veneno with Mrs. Teresa Carrillo de Albornoz, a widow; Angustias, his daughter, and a Galician maid, after being injured in a confrontation between the Monarchist and Republican Army on a street in Madrid. After the first month of convalescence, the captain does not hide his hatred of the women who take care of him, but Angustias (who is in charge of him) tries to cope with the situation with enormous tolerance. . . In this work humorous and sentimental elements are mixed.
The preface is in English and the rest is Spanish.
