An impressive antique fireplace tool
Large round griddle made from wrought iron with wooden handle, fastened and adorned with brass elements
The pierced pan woold facilitate grilling or eventually steaming the food items
There are two hooks and a little stand for accommodating it above the fire or a cauldron
It looks like a large steamer of sifter, which it could be, but most likely is a griddle
Used for open fire cooking, both outside or around the hearth
Original tan/ beige paint remains at the handle
Circa late 18th century, found in New England
Measurements: Approximately 29.5" long x 12" diameter (across) x 2" at the handle
It weighs 2 lbs. 12 oz.
Condition: Very Good overall. Please see photos. Oxidation of the iron and wear at the handle, expected with age and use. All original.
