The Virgin Mary is depicted seated, dressed in a red gown and dark robe, holding out an open right hand, and holding an orb of the Earth in the left. She has an elongated face with her head topped off with a headdress. Seated on the Virgin’s lap is a small carved baby Jesus. The sculpture is mounted upon a walnut base. The sculpture is approximately 135 years old and was purchased in Lares, Puerto Rico, from Galeria Santiago. The receipt of the previous purchase is dated February 8, 1969, and is included. The hands are mounted on pins and will rotate. See less
