Woodcut print by Brazilian artist Hannah Brandt (1923-2020). This piece depicts a stoney brook with boulders, leaves and wild grass. Colors of orange, green, yellow and blue. Artist-proof edition.
Biography:
Hannah Henriette Brandt was born 1923 in Essen Germany. She immigrated to Brazil in 1935, where she settled in São Paulo and became a naturalized citizen in 1941. She was a printmaker, painter and designer who studied at the Instituto Profissional Feminino in Brás as well as studies at the São Paulo Association of Fine Arts.
The German Government awarded her a scholarship for study in 1954 is Westport Connecticut.
In 1973 she won the Itamaraty Prize at the 12th São Paulo International Biennial.
