The embroidery is worked in a variety of threads and materials, on a felt-like ground. Figures faces and hands are worked in paper. Wonderfully worked scene depicts three figures, a cat in the foreground, a cottage behind, a ship sailing out to sea in the background. The male figure in the scene appears to be wearing tartan, suggesting a Scottish origin. Also noteworthy are the seated ladies red shoe and little handbag. Framed in an old, gilded, gesso frame with glass.. Dimensions exclude the frame and slip. See less
