Small but mighty original pastel on paper. Dimensions 7" x 4.5". The frame measures 19" x 16.5".
Signed and titled in the lower right corner.
A superb original pastel by this very talented California artist. The light over the ring illuminates the back of the heads of the spectators. One fighter gives a face-on "Saludo" to the other.
Mahlon Blaine was born in California in 1894. He became part of a coming century of great popularity and diverse talent in the field of illustration that included Dean Cornwell, Robert Lawson, Andrew Loomis, George Petty, Milt Gross and Gustaf Tenggren.
This is fine opportunity to acquire a miniature masterpiece by Mahlon.
