We found this antique French chinoiserie deep red writing table/ desk with its folding sides in Paris and fell in … Read more We found this antique French chinoiserie deep red writing table/ desk with its folding sides in Paris and fell in love with its charming gilt paint over carved bamboo legs and deep red lacquer. It’s a versatile piece, serving as a desk, console/ sofa back table or breakfast nook dining table. Patina as expected for age with many marks / scratches to the paint surface, including water glass ring shown in photo. Wood carving very charming and gilt painted Chinese motifs with foliage/ bamboo and birds. Sides fold down to 34” overall width. Clearance at carved curtain for knees is 23.5” high. Has a middle stretcher and is very stable. Marks / scratches per photos - one water glass (white circular mark) is on top, with other areas missing some lacquer / gilding. Could be restored, but overall appearance is antique and very charming See less
