Crafted in France circa 1870, the elongated oval planter rests on a removable molded wooden base and retains its original fitted zinc liner.

The ceramic body features a beautifully gadrooned lower section finished in soft pink, while the upper portion is embellished with finely hand-painted scenes of playful putti in idyllic landscapes. The charming figures are depicted among trees and foliage, engaged in various activities, with delicate shades of green, blue, rose, and cream creating a colorful composition that extends around the entire jardinière.

Each end is adorned with a sculptural lion-head handle in raised relief, lending a classical touch to the design. Small oval landscape medallions further embellish the pink fluted body, while a molded rim completes the elongated silhouette.

The original removable zinc liner allows the jardinière to be used for floral arrangements while protecting the decorative ceramic interior. The shaped wooden base complements the composition with its warm natural patina.

The antique jardinière is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, retaining its beautifully aged painted decoration and attractive pastel palette. A decorative centerpiece for a dining table, buffet, or console, it can be displayed with fresh flowers, greenery, or simply as a sculptural work of French faience.
