Decorate a library, study, or console table with this elegant two-volume French Holy Bible set. Printed in Marseille, France, and dated 1953, the substantial books are beautifully bound in richly patinated brown leather with deeply embossed geometric and foliate decoration across the covers. The spines are dressed with gilt “La Bible” lettering and raised bands, giving the pair a refined architectural presence when displayed upright or stacked.
The two volumes contain the Old and New Testaments translated and annotated by Abbé François Amiot and the Seminary of Saint-Sulpice, with additional notes by the Seminary of Rodez. Inside, the books feature crisp typography and beautifully printed color illustrations throughout. The leather bindings display intricate tooling and embossed ornamentation inspired by Renaissance bindings, while the pages retain a warm ivory tone with clean edges.
These religious volumes are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorn a warm and rich leather patina. Equally suited for decorative display or scholarly collections, the pair would bring timeless character to a study, office, or bibliothèque.
