Vintage watercolor painting depicting an aerial view of Hamburg, Germany. This lovely scene captures the river Alster with remarkable detail—zoom into the main photo to see the tiny train crossing the bridge. The artwork is signed by A. Kollegger and includes an original explanatory label on the back of the frame. Note: In the label description, “the overturned dresser” refers to a Hamburg office building near the Lombardsbrücke that locals humorously nicknamed for its dresser-like shape.
The label reads: “Inner and Outer Alster with the Lombard Bridge; on the right, the administrative building of the Hamburg-America Line; on the left, the administrative buildings of Standard and Shell near the ‘overturned dresser’; in the background, the Uhlenhorst boathouse and the water tower in the city park with the planetarium. Original watercolor by A. Kollegger, Hamburg, 1939.”
This piece brings a touch of European charm to living rooms, libraries, studies, hallways, or a curated gallery wall. Its soft watercolor palette and subject matter make it especially well-suited for classic, traditional, eclectic, or travel-inspired interiors. It also makes a wonderful gift for travelers, Hamburg or Germany enthusiasts, art collectors, watercolor lovers, architects, urban history admirers, or anyone with personal ties to the city.
The artwork comes nicely framed, ready to display. Ships fully insured with tracking for safe, secure delivery.
