This exquisite antique jug from Adams features intricate high-relief detailing in a stunning knotty wood design, adorned with grapes, vines, and leaves. The jug has a matte, unglazed exterior that contrasts beautifully with its glazed interior, highlighting the craftsmanship of the piece.
Designed as a beverage serving pitcher, this versatile piece is also ideal as a decorative display item, or it could be repurposed as a charming flower vase to enhance any setting.
It is clearly marked on the underside with an impressed ADAMS mark. According to Geoffrey Gooden's "Encyclopedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks" this mark was used on earthenware from 1800 to 1864 by Staffordshire potters William Adams & Sons (page 21).
Measurements: 7 1/2" tall by 6 1/2 widest point (spout to handle) approximately. Capacity: 5 cups or 40 Fl oz. to the rim approximately.
