The porcelain was mounted in bronze by the renowned Parisian oil lamp maker Gagneau around the same period. The ornate bronze fitting is clearly signed Gagneau, a company founded in 1839 by brothers Edouard and François Gagneau. A metal plaque on the underside is also inscribed GAGNEAU, along with the historical address: 115 Rue Lafayette ci-devant R. d’Enchien.

This lamp is a striking accent piece ideal for a console table, side or occasional table.
