French table lamp with a late Qing Chinese export porcelain body, circa 1880–1900, decorated with a cobalt blue lotus scroll motif. The porcelain was mounted in bronze by the renowned Parisian oil lamp maker Gagneau around the same period. The ornate bronze fitting is clearly signed Gagneau, a company founded in 1839 by brothers Edouard and François Gagneau. A metal plaque on the underside is also inscribed GAGNEAU, along with the historical address: 115 Rue Lafayette ci-devant R. d’Enchien.
This lamp is a striking accent piece ideal for a console table, side or occasional table. Its classic silhouette and rich materials make it especially well-suited for traditional, eclectic, or transitional interiors.
