A very beautiful pair of polychromed Kutani porcelain Japanese vases, circa early 20th Century, Meiji period, Japan. Vases are hand-painted and designed with two different sides; one side floral, the other with birds and butterflies. Beautiful Art Deco detail in the black, gold, and green butterfly as show in image #5 and 6. And more beautiful details at neck with cicada sculptures (close-up, image #8.) A red and gold design a base as show in close-up image #5. Marking's on bottom, see image #10. Colors include: white, red, black, emerald green, gold/copper, grey, yellow, and pink/purple.
