An early 19th Century painting, oil on canvas, showing an English pastoral farm scene, artist unknown.
A charming painting, even better in person. Beautifully painted.
The right foreground shows a rural scene of three farm workers clearing hay in a meadow. Other figures can be seen in the mid-ground along with a hay laden wagon with harnessed horses. A thatched roof cottage is painted in the distance. In the central background, two horses are grazing in front of split rail fence.
The late summer English landscape is painted in lush shades of green, the overcast sky is treated beautifully in broad brushstrokes. There is a lovely golden late afternoon light to this piece.
Newly framed in a custom gold leaf wood frame.

In very good antique condition, not examined out of frame. A small tear to the paper backing of the frame.
