designer borek sipek borek šípek (1949-2016) was a renowned czech architect and designer, known for his unique style combining elements of baroque, gothic and postmodern. Born in prague, šípek studied at the technical university of prague before moving to germany, where he completed his studies in architecture at the technical university of stuttgart and earned a doctorate in philosophy at the ludwig maximilian university of munich. Šípek's career took a significant turn in the 1980s when he moved to the netherlands. Here he founded his studio and began to gain international fame for his innovative designs. He is known for his skill in working with glass, creating designer pieces that have been exhibited in museums around the world. In the 1990s, šípek returned to the czech republic and collaborated with václav havel, the czech president, becoming the official architect of prague castle. During this period, he oversaw the restoration and modernization of the castle, integrating his distinctive style. Borek šípek has received numerous awards and recognitions for his contribution to design and architecture, and is considered one of the leading exponents of contemporary czech design. His legacy continues through his works which remain a benchmark for modern architecture and design
