Designed by Halabala for UP Zavody, a well-known furniture manufacturer and dealer based in Brno, Czechoslovakia.
In the last few years, these chairs have become increasingly rare with an equally increasing demand from interior designers.
The set has been restored and reupholstered by our professional refurbishing team in Czechia according to the original process. The new upholstery is high quality fabric, it's very easy to clean and retains its colours very well even in direct sunlight. Additionally, you can custom order this item with any upholstery you want, from high quality leather to premium backhausen fabric, the choice is yours.
You can also find these armchairs separately in our profile.
Please get in touch with us for any questions you may have about this item's condition, authenticity, or any question in general. We're happy to help.
More about the designer:
Jindrich Halabala (1903-1978) was a renowned designer credited with ushering in the mass market production of furniture in his native Czechoslovakia.
His most iconic armchair designs: The H series; were designed in between the World Wars. His use of tubular steel, in some of his designs, went on to inspire countless interior designers and architects throughout the 20th century and beyond.
His designs can now be found in collections of institutions like the Museum of Art in Olomouc and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. Today, Czechia issues an annual award in his name for excellence in furniture and interior design.
More about Art Deco:
Art Deco is a style that originated from France in the early 20th century. Its furniture designs are meticulously crafted, usually using exotic woods. Pieces are normally lacquered to give off a dazzling gloss. These eloquently crafted pieces will add visual performance and posh to any interior. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
