Her hands are folded … Read more This is a 18/19th century Oil on canvas painting of "Madonna," Mary the mother of Jesus. Her hands are folded in prayer. The figure is wearing the blue robe and white veil typical of Madonna images. She seems to be the sad “dolorosa” Madonna, but without the Christ child. The painting is European, country of origin is unknown. We attribute it to the Flemish school. No signature visible. Artist unknown. The condition of the wooden stretcher which holds the canvas might mean an earlier date, possibly 18th century. Age crackling to the paint.
