Dugan Flowers and Frames Black Amethyst Carnival Glass Bowl Ruffled Footed Body with Electric Blue and Gold Effects Antique
This is a very scarce Antique Dugan Flowers and Frames Footed 10 Ruffle Bowl made in the early 1900's. I believe the base glass color is black amethyst. To be true black amethyst you should only be able to see a hint of purple when you hold the glass to a very intense white light, and this bowl with strong light shows no purple at the foot or center, just some around the ruffle area. This ultra fine piece displays three zones of highlight colors: electric blue, gold and purple iridescent highlights in the center of the bowl with prominent yellow iridescent highlights forming a middle band around the center and an outer ring or purple highlights. The iridescence sizzles in natural light and the pattern details are well defined. Black amethyst is seldom seen or sold. The photographs show it fairly well...please look them over and enjoy.
