The starry finish is achieved by rolling rods of various colors on a small mass of glowing glass. The design is obtained by using glass scissors at the end and creating flat discs with a star design. Everything is then heated on a flat surface, which in the past was a stone, so this technique still bears this name today, piera processing. It is heated to become a single rectangular mosaic piece. It is then rolled with a glass disc that has the exact perimeter of the rectangular side. Hence the name by which this technique is known internationally: Roll-up technique. The difficulty lies in closing the other two sides of the rectangle into a cylinder. Then the cylinder is closed at the opposite end, heated to adapt to the dimensions, changing the working point with the prop technique and opening by hand to obtain the final shape. An incredible sequence of glass working techniques to obtain a special design. The result is an intricate design of stars in an infinite patchwork of color combinations. This is commonly known as the Stellato vase, which was enhanced and studied by Pollio Perelda at the Toso Brothers. Many others have worked on this technique, Archimede Seguso at the time, Lino Tagliapietra later. This vase does not bear signatures or labels, so it is most likely not one of their pieces, but it still retains its beauty and incredible technique. The vase is slightly inclined (not perfectly straight). See less
