Very usable size sits nicely on a mantle or shelf. It may be from Kashmir, and was usually holding Kashmiri cookies in its previous household.

It was bought from the same reliable source, and rather being kept on a shelf to be admired, it was pressed into daily service to hold delightful sweets. Working antiques are a great way to introduce future generations to combining the past with the present.

Nevertheless, the rich copper is thick and unblemished. The design is beautiful and richly worked in a finely wrought Mughal patternof vines and chinar leaves. The top cap fits loosely,
and perhaps it was moved, but who can tell? The design and patina are from the same time
