It is a dramatic way to serve an abundance of your favorite curry recipe. People love the drama of being served from such a large beautifully decorated pot. This pot has served many a delicious dinner. The spout keeps the steam circulating over the contents. I had it re-tinned in the USA at one time because it was
such a guarantee of producing a good meal.

Originally bought in Rawalpindi, the pot has a motif of chinar leaves and vines with little leaves on the top
The bottom is smooth and bulbous. It was originally meant to sit in a coal fire and slowly cook, A real pot for feasts in the Kashmiri style. Then the pot was brought to a dining area.

The pot has had a long and storied life, I am sure. I would estimate it is at least mid 19th Century.. it is so nice because it is a usable intriguing antique symbol of an epic era. See less
