19th Century handcrafted storage jar was once a common feature of a well stocked home.
A cloth would line the interior and homemade edibles would be stored inside. I have seen
one used for cookies!
This jar has a wonderful warm copper patina. It is gently warn and it shows it was used and
cleaned regularly. There is a wonderful Mogul leaf and tendril pattern on the bottom.
I saw the same pattern painted on the interior wall of the Lahore Fort. May have been from
the Singh Era in Lahore.
I bought it in 1975 in Lahore from a reputable source.
