The chest opens thanks to a double door with hinges that are also splendidly carved brass. Under the lock sits a remarkable Korean brass pattern that adds an elegant touch to this chest. The sides and the top of this chest are stark in their simplicity, which allows us the good fortune of focusing on the beautiful polished wood of the front. The back is painted black. This 19th century traditional Korean chest would be a handsome decorative item in most homes, perhaps in a bedroom or a den. See less
