This is an original fashion drawing by the famed French haute couturier, Michel Goma, purchased by us in Paris. Goma learned dress making at a young age in his home town of Montpellier, France and moved to Paris in 1951 where he started to sell his fashion sketches at the age of 19. He worked for Jeanne Lafaurie and eventually bought the company to establish his haute couture house in his name. However, this lasted only a few years. In 1965 he left to join the House of Patou where he worked for many years. In 1987 he took helm of House of Balenciaga where he is best known for his prêt-â-porter (ready to wear) collections.
This original fashion drawing is from the early 1960s when Goma had his own couture house in Paris. It is done in pencil on drawing paper. It has strong styling elements featuring a 2-tiered skirted dress with a 2 buttoned collarless jacket. It has a sense of fun, bounce, and pizzazz. And of course note Goma’s playful styling with his swirling hat design!!! Goma always adds extra style with accessories in his hats, poses, etc. This image is perfect for today’s fashionista.
7 x 10 .5 inches in size; comes custom matted in a neutral tone 16 x 20 inch mat ready for standard size frame. Please allow time for custom matting. See companion drawings in our shop.
