An original oil on canvas painting by an unknown Italian artist (illegible signature) probably painted during the mid 20th century, … Read more An original oil on canvas painting by an unknown Italian artist (illegible signature) probably painted during the mid 20th century, "A View From a Neapolitan Town" scene of a peasant woman standing on cobble stones looking to the sea, she is flanked by two stone apartment buildings having laundry hanging from the balconies, 6 3/4" x 5 1/4", signature is illegible in the lower right corner front. CA number 3947, CA purchased spring of 2024 from a British auction house.
The painting has been cleaned and varnished in order to protect the paint film. In the past the canvas was trimmed to the size if the image therefore it has been treated as if it were painted on paper.
The work has been matted with 8 ply White Museum matboard, lined, Museum Glass, museum backing and framed in 1 1/2" original Abe Munn carved, antiqued white Spanish reproduction moulding. See less
