I have a habit of collecting stones wherever i go. Whether they are big, small, smooth, or marked. It was in the latter that i found inspiration to create this new collection.this inspiration also came from my constant search for new approaches in tapestry and new ways to bring life and identity to my art. These are new challenges that made me think about how to transform wool into stone.
i wanted the "stones iii" tapestry to be simple and minimalist in both composition and colors, but complex in details, meanings, and techniques used.
portuguese local wool was used to shape the stones and also as filling to give them volume. Everything was sewn onto alentejo linen, which served as canvas. The frames, made by me, are in treated wood in a light oak tone. Rustic and simple, they give a distinct aspect to this unique artwork.
this work comes with a frame.
