The artist is best known for his Art Deco paintings, and indeed he worked with Donald Deskey to paint murals for Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Clark painted WPA murals in the 1930s, did illustration art for Forbes magazine, and ultimately settled down on the west coast of Florida to teach and paint. He was especially interested in the male figure, and painted portraits and nudes throughout his career. This piece is especially large and impressive; the painting is signed and dated in the lower lefthand corner. The painting retains its original frame and linen-wrapped liner. See less
