Rare and delicate goldscheider art deco ceramic figure around 1930: depiction of an elegant, pretty dancer with dark, chin-length hair … Read more Rare and delicate goldscheider art deco ceramic figure around 1930: depiction of an elegant, pretty dancer with dark, chin-length hair and large creole earrings, presumably dolores del rio, a mexican film actress, posing on tiptoe and wrapping her seemingly unclothed body in a large, floor-length black shawl with stylized coloured floral decoration and long fringes, holding the hem up behind her with her right hand. On a black, stepped and domed oval base with the artist's signature 'lorenzl' on the top of the base, behind the figure. Designed by josef lorenzl (1892 - 1950), who was an austrian sculptor and ceramic modeler. His bronze statuettes often show graceful dancers with long legs and closed eyes. Lorenzl designed numerous ceramics for friedrich goldscheider and keramos and was one of the most popular artists of art deco. This model 5822 was created circa 1928/29.
