Vintage: C.1970s'-80's, Design Institute of OR of America, Solid Bent steel, with polished nickel finish are thee iconic and wonderful cigarette/drink or side tables. The base has a cantilever,, simplistic bent detail, which allows the flex to be tucked under sofa's or chairs , as well as the ability to bring close up, as a side table, to set a cocktail drink, coffee and the likes of small plates of appetizers/food, but the base as what allows this function, and supported by ball feet, so the bottom finish doesn't become scratched from movement to and fro. This table's original design had gone thru 3 iterations, for weight distribution and support, beyond that some Clients wished to not have the side appendages added as this set has. WE ALSO have one iterations listed WITHOUT the side base appendages listed, should there be any interested parties for a much cleaner, refined and minimal look. We took the liberty to replace the chipped glass tops, with NEW Tempered glass ones, to restore them to their glory days upon the Manufacture's roll-out. The bases have been professionally polished and lacquer-sealed for protection. Apparently these set had a brass overlay thin film finish, but had been wearing away in areas, as was the lacquer seal finish, hence when and upon current polished state, the faux brass was removed to reveal this gorgeous polished nickel finish, thus how we saw that in fact the original finish is in fact a polished nickel finish over steel frame. Some Buyer's liked the look of brass, which was one of the ways, these tables were spec'd for, and IF by chance Buyer's wished, Buyer's got to order a preference for brass. D.I.A./Design Institute pieces used to be represented exclusively within Pace Showrooms across North America, as well as World Wide Representatives through the industry.. The beauty of these cantilevered tables, are the solidity, the flex, and the easy movement to and fro or to be tucked near a chair, under one end of a sofa or setting situation, and have the solidity to withstand and hold drinks, and the likes of small plates, an entertaining dynamic within any interior setting. The Contemporary and Transitional looks, evolve and adds a nod toward's the Mid-century and Post-Modern era, while also translating into today's au current, and that is the epitome of honor with which, the sumptuous beauty of such transformative design periods of furniture eras of desired and sought-after distinction.. From an Indiana Estate.
