Here we have a classic bent chrome steel tube side table from the 1930's-40's with glossy black laminate table tops … Read more Here we have a classic bent chrome steel tube side table from the 1930's-40's with glossy black laminate table tops and aluminum edge banding typical of the era.

This was the pre-world war II era when Art Deco was stripped of it's ornamentation in an effort to "streamline" the aesthetics, but was actually a representation of the austerity of the great depression. Rounded shapes were used instead of sharp angles thus giving the hard materials a visually dynamic yet smooth or soft appearance.

Though this piece does not have the original tag, it has been documented as having been manufactured by Royal Metal Mfg. Co. and attributed to Wolfgang Hoffman. See less
