Titled "Davenport" after the coastal town just North of Santa Cruz, California.
Panel dimensions 7.5" x 9.5". The frame measures 12.5" x 14".
Notes on the back from the artist indicate this is from the collection of Edan Hughes, noted California art historian.
Frederick Colbus was born in California on Jan. 14, 1917. Colbus spent his early life in San Francisco and later settled in Santa Cruz. He died there on Aug. 11, 1986.
For over five decades, Edan Milton Hughes researched and collected Early California Art. His three-volume “Artists in California, s the standard reference book on the subject. Until his passing in 2015, he collected some of the most well-regarded Early California artists.
