Lovely antique compote by Thompson Glass Works circa 1889-1895. The compote is made of thick glass with petal shaped scallops. The petals form a bowtie with a center medallion. The pattern number is No. 18, "Bowtie." The glass is about 1/4 inch thick and weighs approximately 6 3/4 pounds. Measures about 10 1/4 inches tall and 10 inches wide at the top, the base is 6 inches across.
Early American Pattern Glass (EAPG), also known simply as "pattern glass," "pressed glass," or Victorian glass is pressed glass tableware made during the Victorian period (c. 1850-1910), only in America by hundreds of glass factories, some more long-lived and more well-known today than others.
The Thompson Glass Works produced some beautiful and popular glassware in Uniontown, PA for a relatively short number of years, from 1889-1895.
