Handwoven in the Oushak region of Western Turkey in the 1960s, this slender village kilim runner was woven on a family loom with a fine wool-on-cotton ground and then densely embroidered with colorful cicim work. The soft neutral base reads light and airy, while the tiny raised motifs scatter color like confetti, making the rug feel joyful yet refined in a hallway, kitchen, or gallery-like corridor. Its long, narrow proportions are ideal for leading the eye through a space, especially over dark stone or polished floors where the pale ground can glow.
The design is organized in orderly vertical channels filled with repeating symbols, so despite the many colors it still feels calm and balanced rather than busy. As a genuine vintage textile it has been used but remains in very good condition, with a supple handle and no repairs. In keeping with its handmade nature, the runner is not perfectly rectangular and shows small natural irregularities along the edges and within the weave, which add to its authenticity. Professionally cleaned and odorless, it is ready to place in a hallway, kitchen galley, long entryway, or beside a bed for a soft, artful path of color.

✨ Color Palette & Design Insight
The palette is cheerful but gentle, behaving almost like a modern neutral sprinkled with color so it layers easily into both minimal and eclectic interiors. It works especially well in bright kitchens, relaxed farmhouse spaces, Scandinavian-inspired rooms, and long hallways where a light runner can lift the whole corridor.
• Soft oatmeal, stone beige, and warm cream ground tones that keep the rug luminous
• Tangerine, marigold, burnt orange, and apricot motifs adding warmth and energy
• Hot pink, raspberry, coral, and blush accents for a playful, joyful feel
• Lilac, violet, and deeper plum notes giving a touch of sophistication
• Golden yellow and honey details that brighten the composition without feeling harsh
• Charcoal, cocoa brown, soft grey, and a few deeper accents to gently ground the palette
✨ Motifs & Symbolism
Across the length of the runner, the cicim work forms neat vertical channels of small hooked diamonds, stylised flowers, cross-like forms, S-shapes, and amulet-like symbols. Many of these are variations on protective eye and talisman motifs, traditionally believed to guard the home and the people who walk over the rug each day. Others resemble sprouting plants and branching forms that speak to wishes for growth, fertility, and abundance in village life. Because the motifs are embroidered on top of the flat ground, they sit slightly raised, creating a tactile relief that catches the light as you move and giving the runner an inviting, celebratory feel.
