Signed and titled "Deer Island … Read more Small late 20th century oil on wood panel painting by Alfred G Vetromile (1917-2006) American. Signed and titled "Deer Island Maine Sketch" on verso. He studied aeronautical engineering at New York University and later attended the Art Student League studying under Robert Brackman and apprenticed under Elmore Brown. He volunteered for the Army Air Corp in 1941 and became a Navigator where he flew 35 missions on B-17 Flying Fortresses. First Lieutenant Vetromile earned seven Air Medals, Three Battle Stars and the Presidential Unit Citation. He continued his artistic career after the war. Unframed, edge wear. See less
