The … Read more A fine English hunt scene painting by a well-known British painter from the golden age of the English hunt. The work is by Dean Wolstenholme (UK/England 1757-1837). It is oil/canvas and is presented in a gilt cove frame with a beaded interior edge. The frame, while suitable, is a later addition to the work and is likely from the early to mid-20th Century.

The work is a fine example of the hunt scene genre by an artist with a good hunt scene reputation, both at the time and currently. It is signed and dated. The date is somewhat illegible and appears to be either ‘89’ or ‘99’, which would put the work at a period when the artist was coming into his prime with respect to hunt scene works. It is a very good work and belongs in an office, lounge, or club, where it can be properly appreciated.
