An evocative original color lithograph by Marc Chagall, titled The Village, printed in 1957 by the renowned Maeght Éditeur, Paris—one of the most respected publishers of modern art lithography. This piece reflects Chagall’s deeply personal visual language, blending memory, symbolism, and dreamlike narrative.
In this composition, Chagall presents a poetic reminiscence of his early life, depicting a figure—often interpreted as the artist himself—overlooking a Russian village with a sense of intimacy and quiet reverence. The imagery captures Chagall’s signature ability to merge reality and imagination, where landscape and memory become intertwined in a lyrical, almost surreal atmosphere.
Printed in rich color on fine paper, the lithograph carries the hallmark softness and depth associated with Maeght editions. At 18 x 24 cm, the work offers a refined, intimate scale that draws the viewer closer, while its narrative depth gives it lasting presence within a collection or interior setting.
