A magnificent Gothic Revival tabouret stool / ottoman / bench, 19th century, most likely Italian (Southern Italy; Kindom of Two Sicilies) featuring a parcel gilt and polychrome painted frame, padded seat in later upholstery, rising on tapering square legs.

From an estate at Residence Metropole, Monte-Carlo, Monaco

Condition:
Overall a remarkable example, in very good antique condition with beautifully aged heavily worn patina. Strong, sturdy, stable, structurally sound. Modern upholstery. Attractive appearance, original paint finish with expected chippy paint losses, exposed gesso, scattered minor nicks, chips and losses, all wear consistent with age, use, and handling. Nothing that detracts from the aesthetics or functionality but only adds to the sophisticated antique character, elegant warmth, and rich historical depth that can only be acquired over very long periods of time
