Mid-Century sofa attributed to T. H. Robsjon-Gibbings for Widdicomb featuring turned walnut legs and complimented by luxurious, short pile, cream velvet newly upholstered.
T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings (1905-1976) produced a line of modernist furniture for Widdicomb from 1943 to 1956 taking his inspiration from ancient Greece, which is evident in the simple lines and symmetry of his designs.
NOT SIGNED AS MOST OF HIS ITEMS WERE NOT SIGNED. ATTRIBUTION OF THESE KIND ARE BASED ON DIFFERENT MODELS AND BOOKS AS WELL AS AUCTION HOUSE PIECES AND MUSEUMS.
