This antique plaque from France is rectangular-shaped with beautiful relief carvings depicting various putti at play alongside a monkey with tambourine and feline like creature, within an inner surround with cartouche-carved crest, and scrolling acanthus leaves that give it a feeling of movement and fluidity. A carved shell nicely anchors the impression at center bottom. This 19th century French ornately-carved wall plaque would be a perfect focal point in a dining room or hanging over a living room fireplace mantel.
